Sol-Power Africa has been supporting the Kwinella Health Center since 2020. This health facility has a catchment population of nearly 15,868 individuals in the lower River Region of the Gambia in Africa. The Kwinella Health Center significantly impacts public health outcomes in the region. We need your help and your donations to help provide medical supplies and infrastructure resources for better access to basic healthcare services. We need you to help improve overall health and well-being, reduce morbidity and mortality rates, and promote community resilience. Your contributions will directly impact the community and will be Sadaqa Jaria as they will continue to help the community and inspire future generations. 

KWINELLA HEALTH CENTER – WOMEN'S CLINIC STAFF

The Women's Clinic and General Health Clinic are among the seven departments of Kwinella Health Center; this campaign will work to support these units. However, an essential component of the functioning of these units is the staff.

The staff stay on site because travelling to and from the Health Center is difficult. The nurses and health care aides have been living in unhealthy conditions. We need to support the staff as they are taking care of the health and well-being of the community.

The Kwinella Staff quarters are in desperate need of a new roof. Every time it rains, water leaks through the roof and creates puddles; the buckets can't handle the downpour. The watermarks are showing signs of mould.

This is where your donations will directly positively impact the staff's health. We intend to replace the roof and install solar panels to access sustainable power.

The Women's Clinic serves 6 outreach clinics in addition to the population in Kwinella region. The medical supplies needed will help to;

  • Reduce the absences of girls from school due to a lack of affordability and access to sanitary products.

  • Reduce the rates of avoidable pre-natal conditions, premature birth and infant mortality.

  • Increase the capacity and efficacy of the clinic staff by using modern and practical medical equipment.

We invite your generous support for several vital projects aimed at improving healthcare in the Gambia. These projects include providing medical supplies for the Kwinella Health Center, installing a new roof for the Kwinella Staff Quarters, and establishing a Cataract Eye Care Clinic to perform cataract surgeries.

Onchocerciasis, or river blindness, is one of the leading causes of cataracts and blindness in children in Sub-Saharan Africa, according to the Center for Disease Control CDC. With the partnership of The BDesh Foundation, we will conduct an eye health clinic which will grant 500 Gambians in need of cataract surgery the gift of healthy vision.
